Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) is organizing a skill-building workshop as part of ‘Cultivating the Humanities and Social Sciences and Supporting Under-Represented Scholars of Asia’ transnational project, headed by Association of Asian Studies (AAS) and sponsored by the generous support of Sweden.

Like most developing countries, Pakistan has been unable to devote the requisite funding to its higher education sector. Even when certain disciplines are financed, humanities and social sciences are more often than not either ignored or severely under-funded. This workshop is the first of a series of practical steps to address the long-standing imbalance that has existed in the Pakistani educational system.

This workshop will provide an opportunity to improve upon the research and professional capabilities of the selected cohort of faculty members who are early in their academic careers. This sustained interaction will provide the participants with opportunities and a platform to learn from each other as well as from the established and renowned humanities and social sciences faculty.
