Research capacity building – a 5-day workshop

We are excited to announce that the fourth edition of the Research Capacity Development Workshop as part of the SIDA-AAS international project, “Cultivating the Humanities and Social Sciences and Supporting Underrepresented Scholars of Asia,” was successfully conducted at Savitribai Phule Pune University from May 14 – 15, 2024.

Workshop focus

At the workshop, students worked on the skills needed to prioritize research questions, as well as developing new knowledge of adopting methodological pluralism in research. The workshop allowed participants to form
networks in academia, especially to develop bonds with researchers from South Asian countries. Finally, the workshop helped with equipping participants with the skills of presenting, writing and publishing the research. See the full Workshop 4 schedule below.

Target audience

This series of workshops specifically aims to support second and third-year PhD students from state-funded and regional universities, who often have limited opportunities for research capacity enhancement. This event facilitates skill development, networking, and collaborative learning, equipping attendees for both their doctoral research and future publishing endeavors (preference was given to applicants from Public Universities).

Those that attended were:

  • PhD students/Post Doctoral Fellows (PDFs)/Social Activists/Independent Researchers from Humanities & Social Science disciplines
  • PhDs/PDFs from Public Universities of North East/Central India/Jammu & Kashmir
  • Candidates from South Asian Countries
  • PhD/PDFs who are writing their dissertation in regional languages
