“Watery Entanglements”
The Journal of Integrative and Innovative Humanities

The Journal of Integrative and Innovative Humanities invites scholars, researchers, and practitioners to submit paper proposals for our upcoming issue, to be published in November, titled “Watery Entanglements.”
In recent years, the emergence of Blue Humanities has highlighted the profound significance of planetary water within the humanities and social sciences. This burgeoning field has drawn critical attention to the multifaceted relationships between human and non-human beings and water, especially in the context of the climate crisis. As rapid ecological changes reshape the state of water around the globe, Blue Humanities encourages us to reflect on the narratives, histories, representations, and philosophies that define our intertwined existence with rivers, oceans, seas, and other watery domains.
Yet, questions remain about how the lives of humans and other species intertwine with water in its various conditions and states. How do these interconnections shift in di ering contexts, and do the same forms of relationships with water vary between the Global North and the Global South? These are significant and pressing questions that await further scholarly exploration.
